Father and Sons
The Kim family
Started by the Kim family in 2001, Osaka has quickly and steadily gained in popularity and esteem amongst locals and visitors alike.  After running two successful Japanese restaurants in New York and thirty five years in the business,  the Kim family settled on a house on Northwest Avenue to place their restaurant.  A lot of time and expense went into turning the old house into the beautiful restaurant it is today.

Osaka is still run by the Kim family. Sons, Steve and Adam, are taking over the daily operations and responsibilities.  Osaka maintains the high quality in product and service that customers have come to expect.  The Kim family's pride in their business shows in every detail of your dining experience.
Owner and Sushi Chef, Adam Kim, prepares and plates his delicious creations at Osaka.  Having learned at his father's knee, Adam, along with brother Steve, is meticulous about his sushi.  His creations are both delicious and beautiful.
In 2004, Steve Kim, was asked to teach a Sushi Class during the, "Meet the Chef"  series at Whatcom Community College.
Osaka has been awarded many prestigious awards from local publications including Best Sushi in Bellingham, from the Bellingham Weekly newspaper.   Check out the award and link below.

Dear Steve,  Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoy our dining experience at Osaka. I wasn't familiar with Japanese food until one night when a friend brought me to your establishment for dinner.   Now Osaka is one of our favorite places.

My wife is a vegetarian and I am not.  It is very difficult to find a restaurant in Whatoom County that can satisfy both us.  One place we do agree on is your restaurant.  We are such fans of your food that my wife sent me out to get sushi and Tofu Teriyaki from Osaka after giving birth to both of our children.   Thanks for the great food.
